"The Ar'Tira"

"With the exception of a few lonely scholars, the remnants, cultures, and beliefs of the Ar'Tira society largely faded into obscurity." - Baen Ti'ren.

During the Age of the Night and after the Creation Wars, the world of Neilith birthed and nurtured many societies, both large and small. Like any budding civilization, these groups of people held varying beliefs, worshiped all manner of Gods, and clung to their ancient traditions. Those same societies inevitably fell into the sands of time, and most were lost to the ever churning abyss of history.  The Ar'Tira was destined to be one such society, except for a chance encounter with a Mage of the Tower.

For 200 years or more, the people who would become known as the Ar'Tira wandered the plains beyond the Western Wall Mountains.  As nomads who constantly fought over hunting territory, a strong war leader named Ara eventually unified the wandering tribes under a single banner. Through her disciplined leadership and brutal war tactics, she promoted an agricultural society, where tribes worked together to develop villages, permanent housing, and stable food sources.

From the old archives and battle logs, it was discovered that around this time a small group of village elders began having dreams and visions. After their prophecies proved true, some of these seers  became trusted advisers of Ara, whom they labeled the Tira, or "Blessed One." Ara began to rely on these seers for their prophecies regarding weather, battle outcomes, or which tribal leader should be married next for political gain. Prophets whose word held true were seated in high regard next to the war leader.  Those whose visions proved false were swiftly and violently dealt with.

After a long battle with a warring faction in which Ara was gravely injured, the prophets gathered around her and prayed to the gods who granted them their visions. Ara was infused with their mystic power, and for three days spoke prophecies that were intricately recorded. She spoke of the end times, of great war and conflict, and of a blue haired child who may stand a chance at saving the world. The prophets named her, and their society, the Ar'Tira, or "Blessed by Ara." Finally succumbing to her wounds on the third day, Ar'Tira spoke one final line before her last breath,

"No'shei stands before the great black dragon, and will cleave its wings with staff, spear, and swords."

The Ar'Tira would devote a great body of work to the words of their fallen leader, and their society was eventually annihilated by outside invaders and opposing factions. Many works found their way to the fire pit, but some survived. Baen, once a mage of the Tower, stumbled upon these papers while browsing through the halls of the Great Library. The documents would be known as the Ar'Tira Prophecies, and their visions speak of a haunting future for Neilith.
